"Whichever is fine by you," Severus said, not really sure what to make of Mimi now. When she wasn't insulting him, she was all down to business, not bothering to make small-talk. Which was fine by Severus. It just threw him off guard.

Mimi nodded briskly. "All right. Make sure not to tell October about this. I doubt she would be happy if she heard I was handing out photos of her to sad, antisocial, lovestruck boys." She replied. "If you tell her, I swear I will break every bone in your body starting with your big, ugly nose and dump your body in the lake as food for the fishes."

And then October returned. It would have taken less time if she hadn't stopped at the Astronomy Tower to drop the portrait out one of the windows, but that did not matter right now. What mattered right now was why Mimi was threatening to break every bone in Severus' body, starting with his nose, and then dump his corpse in the lake.
"Mimi! Leave Severus alone!" October growled, seizing hold of her friend's shoulder and dragging her away from the table. What nerve, coming here and threatening her friend with death! Mimi was stepping out of line again. "I know you don't like him, but I won't allow you to threaten him like that!"

Mimi ignored most of what October said. "So, how much did you hear of that?" She asked warily. If she had heard all of it, she certainly didn't seem to care that Mimi was handing out pictures of her in exchange for assistance. So, she probably only came in about the time Mimi was threatening Severus with a horrible, painful death.

Severus was taken aback. It seems that Mimi wasn't entirely done with him yet, and the apology was just a way of getting information out of him, and the photo as a bribe. He was amazed at how she could turn a trade into an insult, and was glad when October dragged Mimi away from him before he hexed her into oblivion. Note to self: Never trust Mimi with anything other than the ability to insult you.

"I came in around the time you started threatening my friend!" October replied angrily. "Now, get out! I don't want to see you again today." Mimi did exactly as she was told without hesitation, but not before shooting a fierce glare at Severus. Once Mimi was gone, October returned to the table, reclaiming her chair was a sigh. "I'm so sorry, Severus. Mimi really doesn't usually do things like that. She's usually quite a nice and agreeable girl..."
((I'm allowed to control Mimi because she's my character.))

Severus snorted, "To whom? You, I suppose." He shook his head. What was that girl's problem? Oh, yes, it was him. "Doesn't she have any other friends other than you?" How in the world did October stand her? The answer was beyond Severus.

"Well, she has a few friends in her own house, but she doesn't spend a lot of time with them. She...doesn't make friends easily. I feel rather sorry for her." October turned faintly pink and stared down at her hands. "She can be very kind and good-hearted when she wants to be. I think most of Mimi's problem is that she wants to think she has some sort of control over other people, whether it be through threatening them or some other medium. I've tried very hard to help her overcome it, but it's rather hard. She lives in a family with two older brothers who were always doing so much better than she could ever do. She's the invisible child. So, I think, outside of her home, she tries to prove her worth by controlling others. Most of the reason I am friends with her is because I feel bad for her and I think she really needs a friend who will stick with her, despite what she does."

"Then what control over you does she have, if any?" Severus was alarmed at hearing this, and, as much as he hated to admit, felt a pang of pity for her. They weren't so far apart, being the 'invisible child', as October put it. And why did she decide to start controlling him through insults instead of bribing him? He wouldn't complain then.
