Severus sighed in relief as he sat down, setting his bookbag down infront of him. After his mad dash to Hogwarts in the rain, he had changed into dryer clothes. It was nice to be warm again.

October removed her sopping wet scarf and draped it over the nearest chair, "It's strange how it started pouring all of a sudden." She commented, glancing out a nearby window. The rain was almost opaque.

"Indeed, it was most unexpected," Severus muttered to himself. "October? Aren't you cold? There's a spell that'll dry your clothes in a jiffy."

"I'm flattered that you're concerned about me, Severus, but I'm fine." October replied, "Thank you, though."

"Concerned, oh yes, I guess that too. But you're going to get your books all wet when you're like that," Severus replied.

"Heh. I suppose so." October's lip twitched in a brief smile, "I think being dry would be more suited for studying..."

Severus calmly raised an eyebrow, "Which is why I changed into dry clothes before coming here. I would've thought you'd have done the same."

"I just lack common sense sometimes." She shrugged lightly, "Anyway, I didn't get too wet out there. My clothes are only a bit damp now, anyway."

Severus nodded and took out his Charms book. Flipping to a random page, he started to read about Levitation charms while doodling in the margins. Honestly, this was all easy stuff. He was ready for a challenge.

October, just as they had done with Potions, listened silently while he read and took notes herself. She was actually rather good at charms. IT was not her strongest subject, but it was definitely one of her better ones.

"...and is most more effective when said with a strong voice and precise movements," Severus closed his Charms book. His voice was starting to get hoarse after reading so many different charms. "What do you want to do next?"

"History of Magic. This time it's my turn, alright? You've done the last two subjects and History Of Magic is my best one, along with Herbology and Defense Against The Dark Arts." October replied, setting her well-worn History Of Magic book of the table. She gingerly opened the front cover, treating it delicately as if it would fall apart with the slightest bit of mistreatment.
There were a few old doodles inside the cover, things October had drawn earlier that year during one of Professor Binns' long, often boring lectures, "I believe Professor Binns said our upcoming test had a lot to do with the Dark Wizard Grindelwald and his defeat in 1945, so we will start with him."

Severus took out a notebook and quill, "I'm ready when you are."

October nodded lightly, "Alright." She flipped through the pages for a moment before locating the right one, "Here it is. The Dark Wizard Grindelwald was born on December 6, 1845, to a wizarding family in Germany. It is speculated that he grew up under harsh conditions. His family was poor and his father beat Grindelwald and his mother on a regular basis. Magic was Grindelwald's only escape from the harsh reality of his life..."
October continued for a while, reading about the dead wizard's life and how he was turned to the Dark Arts. Professor Binns had said that it would be crucial to know about his childhood, seeing history was basically the study of how something supposedly insignificant could snowball into something truly notable.

We're not so far apart, you and I, thought Severus darkly to himself as he listened to Grindelwald's life. Both poor, both with unloving parents, both with a love for magic....
