Mesedj nodded slightly. "I'm Mesedj Sabayet. I've seen you around some. October Cricket, am I right?" She could tell the younger girl was exhausted. "There's potions for that, you know. For sleeping."

"Mm." October nodded, "I guess so, but I'm already failing horribly in that class. I can't really afford to ignore anything in there."

Mesedj shrugged. "Well, I mean, take one when you want to go to bed, and then you'll be fine in the morning, not all... asleep. And if you're not too good with Potions, I could help you. I'm in NEWT-level Potions..."

October swung her head lazily around to face Mesedj, "Yes. Thanks. Any help you could give would be highly appreciated."

Mesedj nodded slightly. "So what are you working on right now in class?"

"Hm. Lots of things, but mostly around potions to inspire physical healing at the moment." October replied, "The way Professor Slughorn presents it is incredibly dull. Personally, I think he isn't a very good teacher."

Mesadj thought back to her fourth-year Potions class. "That was somewhat boring. But I can help you with it."

"Wonderful." October replied, perking up a bit.

Mesadj lazily reached out and took a piece of bacon, nibbling delicately at the end of it. "So, are you planning to take Potions after OWLs, or do you think you'll quit them?"

"I think I'll continue taking it. I find the overall concept of Potions rather interesting, it's just that I'm not good at it. Perhaps I'll suddenly get better next year. I've heard stories about how some things suddenly click after fourth year." October replied, stating the long version of 'Because Severus is probably going to take it.'

Mesadj nodded, continuing to nibble at her bacon. "It's a pretty fascinating subject once you get past the basic OWL things. In seventh year- or sixth if you're good enough- Slughorn starts letting you try inventing your own potions based on what you know from the previous years."

August tramped into the Great Hall. He scanned the nearby Slytherin table for any sign of his sister, which he located near instantly. She always sat at the end, usually alone, but today there was a strange-looking, dark haired seventh year with her.
"October!" He trotted happily over to her, "October, I've been looking for you!"

"Hm?" October cocked her head slightly to one side when her brother addressed her, "What is it?"

"Well, ah, I was taking a stroll out on the grounds the other day, definitely not stalking you, and I happened to notice you and that Snape kid. I'm glad you finally got up the courage to tell him." August threw his arms around his older sister, grinning like an idiot, "I am so proud of you, Toby!"
