"...I'm not that bright. I'm willing to bet there are at least a dozen girls in my grade that are smarter than I am." October released her breath in the form of a sigh. In truth, she was actually very flattered that someone would say that to her. This was definitely odd behavior for a Gryffindor, "But thank you, anyway."

"Come now," Caroline replied enjoying having someone to talk to, "I bet you couldn't name three."

October almost smiled, "Maybe not. Nevertheless, if there's one thing I've learned in my time here, it's that there is always someone who is better than you are."

"Sadly that is true," Caroline agreed, "but if you stick with your strengths then at least you're better than most people. But if you dint then you'll get better and what you're not good at by the people who are good teaching you," realizing that sounded confusing she added, "if that made any sense to you at all."

"It makes sense." October nodded, "And I agree with you wholeheartedly."

"Yea!," Caroline practically sang, "Some one agrees with me!"

"Well, you did make a good point." October raised an eyebrow.

"That's nice," she said happily. "I love it when I actually make sense. Which can not be very often."

October laughed, "Oh? You make sense to me."

"Yea!" Caroline shouted getting angry shhhs from around the book shelf. It seemed as if someone had taken her seat. A little quieter she told October, "You know what, you are a really spectacular person," truly meaning it.
"Hey," Caroline said entering another topic, "want one." She pulled a bag of sweet from her pocket. I did say first person I saw, right, she told herself a little guiltily, after all it's not my fault it's someone nice. Besides, she'll probably ask what they are and then I will have no choice but to tell her. She's smarter than the twits one normally finds in here.

October stared at the bag for a moment, "Depends. What is in it?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

Caroline sighed, not sure if it was a sigh of relief or not. Then she smiled, "I'm not really sure the effects of them actually, I believe they will work like hiccup sweets though. I have some of those two, picked them up last visit to Zonko's, but I also have some Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans as well, and probably a chocolate frog somewhere." Caroline started pulling foreign objects out of pockets left and right until there was a huge clutter all over the floor.

October poked a nearby chocolate frog through a rip in the shiny paper enclosing it. The enchanted chocolate croaked, then broke loose from its wrapping and began attempting to hop off. It had managed to get a few feet away before it was trod on by a first year who had not seen it.
"Well, that's the end of that one." October mused quietly, watching the first year walk off with chocolate frog remains stuck to the bottom of her shoe.

"No worried," Caroline laughed, "I can always get another, and hopefully take better care of the next." She smiled at the long gone first year.

"It's alright. I don't like chocolate frogs anyway. Who wants to eat something that's still squirming when you bite into it?" October shrugged lightly.
