October stepped uncertainly into the Great Hall, treading as lightly as a hare being pursued by a hawk. Her skirts whispered around her ankles as she made her way into the transformed Hall. It was still relatively empty, seeing as she had arrived rather early to the scheduled ball.
Her silvery-white dress caught the low light of the newly transformed Great Hall, causing her to shimmer slightly as she moved around. October was a bit self-conscious about this, thinking she might draw too much attention to herself. That was why she made a point of wearing several black accents to mute the overall effect of her clothing. Two raven feathers, both a glossy black, were woven into her braided hair and a black, crescent moon shaped pendant dangled from her neck on a leather cord.
October was not exactly sure why she was here in the first place. Nobody had asked her to come with them and she, in her hope that maybe Severus might ask her, neglected to invite anyone else. So, she was alone. Terribly alone.
Oh well.

Hannah walked into the Great Hall wearing a ruby red dress that was flowing and strapless. She saw October and was glad she was not alone. "Hey October, whats up. I love your dress."

October attempted to smile, "Thank you. Yours is lovely too." She nodded lightly, "Red is a very good color for you."

"Thanks." Hannah said. "Do you know what kind of music there is going to be?"

"No idea." October shrugged lightly, "I'm just going to trust the school on that one. But in any case, I think we're rather early."

"Yeah, I wonder how crowded it's going to get." Hannah said.

"Relatively crowded, I suppose." October replied, glancing around to see if anyone new was coming in, "A few people from my house aren't coming. Would you...ah...like to get a table? I think it wuld be wise to grab one before more people start coming."

"OK." Hannah said as she went and put her wrap on some chairs to reseve the table.

"It's simply amazing what they've done to the Great Hall." October commented, glancing around the Great Hall. What had previously been their dining hall was now a sparkling wonderland. October had hardly recognized the place when she stepped in.

"Yeah, it looks absolutly beautiful." Hannah said. (( OK, here it is: I gotta go do some stuff around the house and I'll be back later. Just pretend Hannah is still at the Ball.))

((Okay.))
October siged softly, "So, I suppose you weren't able to get a date either?" She asked. That seemed a bit odd to her. Hannah was a good-looking girl. Surely, there was a boy willing to accompany her to a ball.

((I'm sorta back I'll sorta be of and on. I'm just sorta busy tonight.)) "No." Hannah siged. Hannah didn't really care about having a boyfriend or escourt.

"Oh." October nodded, "Well, I suppose it's better that Hogwarts at least has two girls brave enough to come on their own."
