Remus had been sitting peacefully at his seat, half a sleep listening to the music and appreciating the acoustics of the Great Hall. Many didn't realize that he was a sucker for the fine arts. He shot forward when he heard a strangled sob and his chair was hit by a flying green and red streak. He realized that it was Lily and as he saw her rush past Anonimus without a care, he knew something had happened between the pair. He glanced around for James but couldn't findhim at first. Pulling himself out of the chair using the table, he went on a hunt for James in the sea of people dancing.

"I'm still the wallflower I've always been..." October replied with a heavy sigh, downing her second glass of punch.

Morgan came in wearing a long red-and-gold dress and wandered around the ball, not looking for anyone or anything in particular.
((this is Mesedj on as a favor... I won't be RPing at all, just wanted to stick Morgan in here.))

James saw Lily run by. Crap. He ran after her, hoping he could catch her.

Anonimus wanted to run after Lily but thought better of it. She is James's now he thought. He decided to just go a head and go to bed...there was no real reasion for him to stay anymore. So he left.

"Wallflower?" he asked. That's a charming way for her to describe herself. Kingsley watched as his fellows scurried about the hall, everyone trying to patch botched relationships, he thought.

October nodded hollowly, "Yes. A wallflower."

Kingsley felt his lip twitch in amusement. "Righto. Excuse me, but I'm going to go get some more punch." If girls were supposed to be confusing, October must be the queen of them all.

"Could you get me some while you're there?" October called out after him. Her head was filled with a faint buzzing sound that was almost pleasant in a way. She felt miserable and ecstatic all at the same time. It was a bit dizzying.

After pouring October's glass, Kingsley took a long draught of his own. The walk back to his table seemed longer than it was earlier and the room louder. He practically threw October's glass on the table when he returned and punch sloshed onto his wrist and stained his new cuff. "There ya go."

"Thank you." October replied before snatching up her glass and draining it quickly. The faint buzzing grew to a loud, almost defeaning roar and October had to grip the edge of the table in order to keep from sliding out of her chair.
The feelings of misery intensified suddenly, overwhelming the sense of elation that October had previously been experiencing. Suddenly, the Slytherin fourth year broke out sobbing, tears running down her pale face and dripping onto the table.

Kingsley was taken aback by the Slytherin's unexpected sobbing. Lightly, he rested his arm around her shoulder. "Ah are you okay?" he stammered. He'd never really been one to comfort others. And now the third and fourth sips of punch must have gone to his head. "I mean, I guess your not because your crying... Can I help you or something?"

"He doesn't care..." October sobbed, ignoring Kingsley's attempt to comfort her, "He doesn't...care about me...And I love him...I love...him so much...And I was so stupid for...thinking he would ever care about...about me..."

He stared at the colorful napkin before him, considering how to anwser. "Well... have you asked him?"

"No..." October choked out between sobs, "...But...but...it's obvious. He's...never ever shown...any interest in me. I...I thought he...might like...me after he asked...me to study with him, but I was...wrong. So...very, very wrong...and it hurts...to know that...he'll never think of me in that...sort of way..." A fresh wave of tears sprang from her eyes. She had no eartly idea what exactly was making her tell Kingsley all of this, but it didn't matter anymore.
