Caitria strode gracefully through the library, eyes on a book she was reading whilst she walked. She weaved around bookshelves, tables, and even students as if they weren't there, her reading undisturbed by the challenge she was undertaking. The current book she was engrossed in was a romance novel, a companion to one she had read previously. The hero had just rescued the heroine from a kidnapping villain, and it was now the reunion scene. Oh, joys.
And Mark pulled Lia close to him, holding her tight to his chest. He set his face against her blond hair,- (The heroine was always blond, Cait noticed with annoyance) -drinking in the lovely scent. Lia closed her eyes and felt his heartbeat reverberate through her body, thrumming in time with hers.
"Mark?" she asked softly, looking up at his face.
"Yes, my love?" his voice was warm and gentle.
"Will you always be here?" Lia pressed, afraid of what the morrow would bring.
"Always, Lia, always. I'll never leave you," Mark promised. He placed his hands on her face and tilted it upward, setting his lips gently against hers. Lia responded by returning the kiss with even more passion-
Ria pulled her eyes off the black print and frowned, disgusted. Romance novels were so...predictable. Guy meets girl, love at first sight, guy loses girl, guy saves the day, they kiss, etcetera etcetera. Someone needed to clue these authors in. Love at first sight? Hah, what a joke. Only in the novels.
People always hated her for her beauty, girls especially. They thought guys appeared at her command, tending to her every whim.
Reality check, anyone?
