Severus adjusted his bookbag on his shoulder, trying to ignore the whispers from the students passing him in the hall as they caught sight of his broken and bloody nose. He was on his way to the Potions room, hoping to find a potion that could help him, or the Professor to heal it. Professor Slughorn knew a surprisingly large number of healing spells. Maybe it was because he taught Potions, or maybe he knew that healing spells came in handy when being the head of any House.
He felt a mite more glad knowing that he had taken all of Mimi's pictures, knowing that she had probably wanted to keep a few.

October had been gliding along the hallway, carrying her Defense Against The Dark Arts books, a few pieces of parchment, a bottle of ink, and her favorite purple quill. She kept her eyes on her feet as she hurried along and her badger-colored, black and white hair was, oddly enough, not tied back in her usual ponytail. It cascaded over her shoulder and fell over her face, half-covering one of her luminous blue eyes. October sorted through her book, looking for today's homework (which she was sure was buried in her book somewhere), and glanced up just in time to see none other than Severus Snape walking down the hall with blood all over his face and his nose looking slightly crooked.
"Severus?!" October gasped, briefly setting down her books and running to her friend. "Severus, you've got blood all over your face! What happened? Are you hurt? Who did this to you? Come on, we need to get you to the Hospital Wing..."

Severus didn't notice October first as he was trying hard not to concentrate the ever present giggles and whispers. ((But he finally did, 'cause Sevvie always notices 'ol 'Tober.)) "October, I'm fine. It looks worse than it is, really," he said. "Lockhart punched me, and I don't need to go to the Hospital Wing, I'm sure Professor Slughorn knows a good spell or two."

"No. No, no, no, no, no. You are going to the Hospital Wing, Severus." October sighed, dabbing the blood off Severus' face with the edge of her scarf. It would wash out later and even if it didn't, October would not care. After all, it was Severus' blood and anything of Severus' automatically had value to October. Even if the idea was just a bit creepy. After cleaning the blood off his face, October proceeded to examine his break. Why would Mimi punch Severus? October knew quite well Mimi was not fond of Severus, but October doubted she would ever physically hurt him. "It may not hurt now, but that looks like a nasty break. You will probably be feeling it a lot more later and I doubt a simple spell will do much good. We need to get it fixed soon. Oh, Severus. I'm so sorry Mimi did this to you. I have no idea why she would do such a horrid thing." October briefly embraced Severus before picking up her books (the professor wouldn't mind if she was late to class because she took a friend to the Hospital Wing), taking the boy by the hand and leading him resolutely toward the Hospital Wing. "Come on. Let's go to the Hospital Wing."

Severus sighed; it seems that he would definitely be going to the Hospital Wing, whether or not he wanted to. He relished the feeling in October's hand, so all was not bad. "Don't you have class? Is it Defense Against the Darks Arts? I think the professor's giving a pop quiz in that class. You need to study, you know. And we don't need points taken away from Slytherin because you're late to class, you know," he said in a last attempt to avoid being taken to the Hospital Wing.

October glanced back at him, her icy blue eyes still and serious. "I think taking a friend to the Hospital Wing is a good enough excuse. I can always make up the quiz later. It's just a quiz and I'm wonderful in that class. Professor won't mind at all, I promise." She replied simply. To her, Severus sounded as though he did not want to go to the Hospital Wing. She could not imagine why. The Hospital Wing gave everyone chills sometimes, seeing as places that housed sick and injured people always had a nasty vibe in the air, but that was no reason to avoid it. October distinctly remembered him bringing healing slaves to the Hospital Wing during the epidemic earlier that year. Severus had never seemed like he disliked the Hospital Wing before. Why start now? "Severus, do you no want to go to the Hospital Wing?"

"Not particularly," Severus said slowly. He had intended to go to the Professor, since he would keep it all hush-hush. In the Hospital Wing however, new spread like wildfire, and Severus wasn't too keen on letting the whole school know that he was beaten up by a girl and then led to the Hospital Wing by another girl ((no offense, October)). "Are you sure? I can take myself to the Hospital Wing..." he said half-heartedly.

"Here, Severus. I'll make you a deal. You come with me to the Hospital Wing and I'll say your nose was broken by a big, muscular Gryffindor seventh year after you refused to give him some Potions answers, saying he would get a better grade of the exam if he actually learned them instead of cheating like a bad student. We'll pretend I saw the whole thing and tried to stop him, but he pushed me out of the way and hexed me before I could do anything to assist you and your noble self, although you had it covered. We'll say you dueled the seventh year valiantly until he took a cheap shot and punched you in the face. Then, he laughed and walked away. Despite the fact that your nose was broken, you freed my from the hex and I decided to accompany you to the hospital wing to give an eye witness account of what happened. There. It makes you look like a hero, Severus. If you want anything to circulate around the school, it's that." October replied, making up the story on the spot. It sounded convincing. A seventh year from Gryffindor would probably punch a fourth year Slytherin boy given the chance.
"Also, if you come, I'll give you a special present. Just from me. How would you like that?" October's voice suddenly adopted a rather flirtatious tone with those three sentences. She gave Severus an enigmatic smile. "A very special present indeed. Don't you want to know what it is?" She doubted he would be suckered into doing anything through flirting, but perhaps she could pique his curiosity with this. It was worth a try. October was going to make him look like a hero and she was going to give him a special present (only October knew what). If Severus was not already swayed by the whole idea of being worshiped as a god among Slytherins, then maybe her little gift would entice his curiosity enough to go to the Hospital Wing with her.

Severus was not impressed with October's flirting skills. Evidently, she didn't use them often (thank goodness). "The excuse sounds good enough to me, but Lockhart knows the truth and won't be afraid of telling everybody," Severus scowled. "You know her." He shook his head angrily. "But it's worth a try."
((Sorry. My post is not worthy of your typing powress, Haddles. I weep.))

((Your post is fine, but Severus is very insulting in this thread. The least he could do was have been intrigued. It's not like he's ever had a girl flirt with him before. I'm going to dismiss it as his broken nose that's making him so irritable.))
"Dammit, Severus. I'm trying to be nice to you and help you. The least you could do is trust me a little." October replied, sounding rather irked. She had not expected Severus to be swayed much, but he could at least trust her to do this. "You don't think I have friends in high places, some that could easily bribe a Gryffindor seventh year into claiming he attacked you and get a random bunch of kids to state they saw it happen? I can be very influential when I want to be, Severus. Also, Mimi is not a teacher's pet. She's been in detention more times than I would care to count. She's used Silencing charms on her professors just because she thought they were boring. Her word will mean nothing against ours. Trust me, all right? As for my flirting skills, I know they're near as pitiful as my Potions skill, but I guess I'll get to kiss you at some point, so it hardly matters...Anyway, come on. Let's go. I hope you know how to act. Just put on the 'fallen hero' charade and you'll do fine."

((You yourself stated that 'She doubted he would be suckered into doing anything through flirting..' and you were right. Plus, be grateful that Severus even knows what flirting is.))
Severus was afraid his blush might cause severe burning to his face, and tried to be sullen instead, "I do trust you. And, by the way you put it, this could work. But who do you know in Gryffindor that could be bribed? Gryffindors have a bloody humongous ego, and they don't care for getting their pride hurt, in case you didn't know already."

"You would be surprised what some people would do for a right price." October said quietly. "My father wanted power, so he joined the Death Eaters and preformed lots and lots of horrid murders. He was also planning to murder my mother, August, and myself and turn us in shambling undead Inferi before the Aurors finally arrested him. I did love my father very much, but he was corrupt. If You-Know-Who could convince my father to kill the woman he married and his own two children, then there are few things that a person cannot be convinced to do. Everyone has something that they would be willing to sacrifice everything for. I haven't discovered mine quite yet, but I'm sure I will eventually. All we need to do is target the one thing that a Gryffindor would die for and give it to them. They would be more than willing to comply with us, then."

Severus was quiet after October's heated explanation. "There's always blackmail, or doing a favor for them, like setting up a date for them or giving them notes..." Unfortunately, Severus had had his notes ransacked more than once by various Gryffindors, and knew that for some of them, tests weren't their strong suits.

"That basically goes back to what I'm saying, Severus. We, as adolescents, have very shallow desires. October replied somewhat curtly. Realizing how rude and irritable she sounded, October shook her head lightly and sighed. "I apologize, Severus. I have been feeling quite out of sorts lately. I know I must come off as sounding very rude. It's just that Septimus has been sending howler after howler--my bed is covered with ashes from them, I swear--and our dogs, Ferdinand and St. George, got sick off rat poison and died last week, and...I really shouldn't be dumping my problems on you. After all, it's not like you care that much what's happening to me. You have your own issues to deal with."
The hallways began to clear out. October paused a moment, glancing over at a grandfather clock on the wall to her right. Class had just started. She would have plenty of time to get Severus to the Hospital Wing and get back with enough time to finish that quiz before class ended. "All right. We're almost there. Remember what I said. You're a fallen hero. Be lovable, modest, noble, etcetera. You're the best person in the world, but you don't know it. I'm going to be your little fangirl, hanging on you and fretting over your injuries. All right?"

Severus sighed, resigned that he would have to play along. "Acting never was my strong suit, but I guess this one time will be alright." Glancing at October, he asked quietly, "If we're going to be friends, we'll have to work on...being more open with each other. Of course I care what's happening to you. I've never owned a pet though, and I am very sorry to hear about your two dogs, but I have recieved the occasional Howler. What, if you don't mind my asking, are they about? Perhaps I can help."
