Bellatrix layed down on her bed in her dorm. She was tired and stressed. Everything had gotten so complicated. She used to have been so sure of everything, now she was confused. She sighed and rolled onto her stomach.

Narcissa came in and threw herself- rather ungracefully, especially for a Black- onto her bed, wanting nothing more than a long, restful, sleep that she knew she wouldn't be getting for a long time.

"Hey Cissy." Bellatrix said, she was glad for some company. "Do you know why Regulus is mad at me?"

Narcissa somehow managed a shrug from her present position. "I think he was just a bit worried about the part he'll have to play in the Dark Lord's inner circle soon enough. But it's alright now, we've gotten it all straightened out and he even seems eager to take his place with us."

"I knew he'd come around. I was a bit worried there for a second though." Bellatrix replied. "Why was he mad at me thought?"

Narcissa shrugged again. "He didn't say. I was mostly worried about making sure of his loyalty to the Dark Lord. I'll ask him about it later."
((have to go, I'll probably be on again tomorrow night; if I'm not I won't be home Saturday, I'll be at the grandparents' so I'll talk to you again Sunday))

"He better be loyal." Bellatrix replied. "We don't need anymore blood traitors in our family."

"He's loyal, Bella, I made sure of that. Sirius will stay the only blood traitor." Narcissa hated lying to her sister, but it needed to be done right now.

Bellatrix didn't look so sure. She could always tell when someone was lying. "Should I talk some sense into him? I'm not sure if you got the message across."

October shuffled into the girl's dormitory, looking quite worn. Her black-and-white hair, usually kept in a loose ponytail, was unbound, for her black, silky ribbon was serving to bind a nasty cut on the knuckles of her right hand. She acknowledged Nariccsa and Bellatrix with a single nod before flopping down on her own bed.
With her face down to the ruffled green sheets of her bed, October gratefully inhaled the welcoming, familiar scent of the bedclothes. It was comforting, in a strange sort of way, and it made her feel much better just to lie there in silence.

Narcissa nodded back to October, then turned back to her sister. "It couldn't hurt," she said with a shrug, thinking that she'd need to warn Regulus about that before Bellatrix found him.

"I might next time I see him." Bellatrix said cooly. "He's been pretty friendly to that brother of his lately. I just might have to put a stop to that." She smirked. "So how are thinks with you and Lucius?"

Alea opened the door to the girls dorm and saw Bellatrix and Narcissa in there, discussing something. She didn't want to inturrupt anything, so she quickly shut the door and went back down the stairs.

October raised her head slightly from the sheets and glanced over at her beside table, where there was a vase of freshly picked roses and a framed protrait of a tall, somewhat gaunt, silver-haired man holding a small, dark-haired girl with white streaks running through her locks.
October raised her uninjured hand and picked up the portrait. Unlike most photographs and painting of the wizarding world, this one only moved when no one was looking at it although there were always signs that the characters had shifted position. The little girl, about five years old when the portrait was made, was laughing and smiling, her unnatrually blue eyes bright with happiness. The silver-haired man was smiling as well, but their was something veiled behind his grin. Something dark...something unfathomable that October had never noticed until a year or so ago.
Why hadn't she guessed sooner? Why didn't she see beyond the mask into the depths of his soul? Was she so blind that she did not notice the obvious?

Mesedj came in, ignoring Bellatrix and Narcissa's conversation, pulled her crystal ball out from under the bed, along with its ebony stand and emerald-green silken cloth, and set it on her bedside table.
