"I like oranges better. Do you like..." Alea paused, searching for a random food. "tofu?"

"Ah, great, finally someone who doesn't care for grapefruit! And tofu, well, I don't know. I've never had it. Do you think Hogsmeade has some?" Sirius was really starting to like this girl more and more as their conversation progressed.

"I don't know. I'll try to look for it next time I'm there," Alea laughed.

"Maybe I could help you," Sirius looked at her with a genuine smile. House unity and all that jazz wasn't so bad after all.

"Ok," Alea was glad all the bad things she had heard about Gryffindors weren't true. Sirius was actually nice for a Gryffindor.

"So, have you studied any for the exams? I haven't, and even I'm starting to feel the stress with Remus popping up everywhere and quizzing me on History of Magic or Transfiguration," Sirius pointed through a gap in the bookshelf towards where Remus sat.

"A bit. I've seen Remus in here a lot. Does he like the library?" Alea asked.

"Yeah, if I didn't know any better, I'd say he'd live in here if he was given the choice," Sirius chuckled to himself. Remus was such a nerd.

Alea laughed too. "Some of my friends at my old school were like that. My mom was like that, too," some of the joy seemed to fade from her brilliant green eyes, dimming their glow a bit.

"Ah, you're lucky. I used to enjoy reading, but my parents aren't big on books. So I fell out of the habit, but I like the occasional good read." Sirius took note of her crestfallen face, "Did something happen to your mom? I sure wish something happened to mine," he grumbled to himself.

Alea smiled a little at this last statement. "My mom died at the beginning of the summer. It was really tough, since my dad works all the time." she realized she was spilling her life's story, and blushed, finding herself retreating behind her shy ways.

"Aye, I guess it would be. I'm sorry, but I can't really relate to you; both of my parents are alive and well and they hate my guts while they pamper my brother for supporting something I don't agree with," Sirius shook his head. He tried to convince Regulus, and maybe he was starting to change his mind, but he better do it soon before it was too late.

Alea looked up at him, pity shining in her green eyes. "I'm really sorry," she told him. "That must be horrible, living like that..." she trailed off, and blushed, becoming shy again.

Sirius shrugged, "I've got great friends, one of which is letting me live with him. So, I'm not really living with it anymore." He saw her blushing, "Please don't be shy. Your summer must've been horrible. If you need to talk to anyone, I'm here."

Alea smiled. "Thanks; that really means a lot to me. I'm here for you too, if you need it," she added, ducking her head as a wave of shyness overcame her.
