October stared for a moment at the page of notes she had written. Professor Binns was on one of his lectures on giant wars again, and, having told the class this information would be extremely important to know for the upcoming test, October had decided to takes extra notes this time. After all, History Of Magic was her best subject and there was no reason she should fail something in it because she failed to take the right notes.
However, looking over her second, newly written page, October realized Professor Binns was basically saying the same thing over and over again, only using different words each time. So, essentially, she had just written two pages of notes when she didn't really need to.
Sighing softly, she found herself tuning the oddly repetitive lecture out and began doodling on the corner of an extra piece of parchment. An 'S' came from her quill, followed by an 'E' and a 'V'. Those three letters were shadowed by several more.
Severus Snape
Quickly, she scratched the name out, hoping no one had seen. All that was left of it was an angry scribble in the corner of her scrap of spare parchment. After all, the last thing she needed was for someone to see her writing Severus' name all over a blank piece of parchement. She was going to guard what remained of her secret viciously.

Astrum recognized the girl sitting next to her as the girl who was in the dungeons with Blaze and saw her scratching something out angrily."Are you ok?" She whispered timidly, looking up at Proffesor Binns to make sure he hadn't heard her.

October looked up suddenly, her normally pallid, white face stained with red. Realizing that this girl sitting next to her probably hadn't seen, the fourth year relaxed a bit, "Oh yes. I'm fine." October breathed back, "I just wish Professor Binns would move on. It seems as though we've been on this subject for the entire class."

"We have" Astrum muttered, brushing her black hair behind her ear so the girl could see her paper white face. "I stopped taking notes after he repeated himself the third time, and started writing poems." She moved her arm to show several pages of poetry.

October had a distinct look of awe plastered to her face, "My. Would you mind if I read some of your work? I absolutely adore poetry." She asked quietly, keeping her voice low so that their ghost teacher wouldn't hear her, "I tried my hand at writing poetry not too long ago, but I find I'm more gifted with prose."

"Um...Sure." Astrum barely whispered, passing a few pages of parchment to her.

October took the papers from the girl, trying to make as little noise as possible. The parchment crackled a bit when it changed hands, as parchment always did, but Professor Binns didn't seem to notice. He was obviously to absorbed in droning on about the Goblin Revolution of 1836 and all its effects on the wizarding economy.
The Slytherin fourth year took her time in reading over the girl's poetry. Half way through the third page, October realized she didn't know this girl's name. She had seen her before, down in the Potions Classroom the previous Saturday, but October had left before a proper introduction could take place.
"As far as I've read, your poetry is brilliant." She told the girl softly, "I'm being honest. But...I don't think I know your name..."

"Thanks." Astrum breathed. "And I'm Astrum Lumin."

October a ghost of a smile crossed October's face, "That's Latin, isn't it? Star light. Am I correct?" The fourth year turned her blue-eyed gaze back down to the poetry in her hands, "My name is October Cricket. It's nice to meet you, Astrum."

"Yes, that's correct." Astrum whispered. "How did you know? Do you speak Latin?" She tilted her head forward and her hair fell back across her face.

October shook her head lightly, "My mother insisted on teaching it to me when I was little. I've forgotten most of it, actually. But...a few things stuck, didn't they?" She smiled wryly.
((Okay. I have to go get dinner now. I'll post again later.))

"Must've done." Astrum said smiling also, and brushing her hair back behind her ear again. "My parents were obcessed with old cultures like that..." She stopped mid-sentence, ans a few tears ran down her face. "I mean my Mom is..." She trailed off, and let her hair fall back to covering her face.

October nodded, "It's alright. You don't have to tell me." Truth be told, October understood well enough waht must have happened to Astrum's mother. She was almost expecting to leanr something like this. Nearly everyone at Hogwarts had some family problem or another.

"Sorry, October." Astrum said tears running down her face still. "This is the second time this has happened since I've been here. The subject of family keeps coming up."

October placed a hesitant hand on Astrum's shoulder, "It's alright. Perhaps we should leave class if you feel this upset. I can get you excused and escort you back to your house's common room, if you would like me to."
